Kwentong Buildmate EP 1 Part 2: How Buildmate Helps Customers Find the Right Tool

Choosing the right tools and equipment is not always about finding the cheapest option. For many customers, the more important question is whether the product is actually suitable for their specific needs, level of usage, and application.
As a multibrand store, Buildmate offers customers access to different brands and product options in one place. But with a wide selection also comes a common misconception: that having multiple brands means products are automatically more expensive.
In this conversation, Buildmate’s Sales Manager shares how the company helps customers understand the advantage of having more choices and, more importantly, how the team makes sure customers are recommended products that truly match their needs.
Breaking the Misconception About Multibrand Stores
One of the common misconceptions customers have about multibrand stores is that they are more expensive because they carry several brands and maintain a larger store space. However, having multiple brands actually gives customers more flexibility when choosing a product.
According to the Sales Manager:
If halimbawa, value for money lang yung kailangan nilang tools, meron tayong kayang i-offer.

Rather than limiting customers to one brand, Buildmate's multibrand approach allows them to compare different options based on their requirements. Whether a customer is looking for a value-for-money tool or a product for more demanding applications, having multiple brands creates more opportunities to find a suitable option.
The Customer Comes First
For Buildmate, choosing the right product is not simply about looking at the customer's budget.
The team first identifies whether the customer needs a tool for DIY projects, everyday work, or industrial applications. From there, they can narrow down the options and recommend products that are appropriate for the intended use.
The Sales Manager explains:
- Sir Marvin De Oro, Buildmate Sales Manager
This approach allows the team to narrow down the options and provide recommendations that are more relevant to the customer's actual needs.
Asking First, Recommending Second
One of the key parts of Buildmate's approach is understanding the customer before giving a recommendation.
Instead of immediately offering a product, the team asks questions to determine what the customer really needs. This helps prevent customers from becoming overwhelmed by the number of available choices.
As the Sales Manager shares:
- Sir Marvin De Oro, Buildmate Sales Manager
This means the recommendation comes after understanding the customer's requirement, not before.
The Importance of Knowing the Product
A wide product selection is only useful when the people assisting customers also understand the products they offer.
Buildmate's team takes product knowledge seriously because recommending the wrong tool can lead to a poor buying experience.
As the Sales Manager puts it:
- Sir Marvin De Oro, Buildmate Sales Manager
The goal is to make sure that every recommendation has a purpose and is appropriate for the customer's intended application.
The Right Tool Starts with the Right Questions
A product may look suitable at first glance, but its actual application can make all the difference.
A tool intended for DIY use, for example, may not be the right choice for industrial work. This is why understanding where and how the customer will use the product is an important part of the buying process.
The Sales Manager highlights this point:
"So talaga kailangan alam natin... So talagang kailangan alamin talaga yung kailangan ng customers."

More Than Just a Multibrand Store
Being a multibrand store is not simply about having more brands on the shelves. For Buildmate, it means giving customers more opportunities to find the product that fits their specific needs.
With different brands, price points, and product categories available, customers can have more freedom to choose. And with a team that focuses on asking the right questions and understanding the intended application, that selection becomes easier to navigate.
At Buildmate, it's not just about finding a tool it's about finding the right tool for the job.
